The Railway Series THOMAS & FRIENDS
About the Exhibition
Sanctioned Event of the 19th Japan Media Arts Festival
'Thomas the Tank Engine' enjoys great popularity in Japan, but its origins date back to a picture book first published in the U.K. in 1945. Beloved in many countries around the world, the 'Thomas the Tank Engine' series was illustrated over the years by C. Reginald Dalby, John T. Kenney, Gunvor & Peter Edwards, Clive Spong, and this exhibition will focus on original illustrations by these artists. It will also include dioramas, film props, video screenings, historical material of railway in Japan and contemporary interactive art / virtual reality works and exhibits, allowing visitors to explore both the fascinating world of 'Thomas the Tank Engine' and the attraction of the railways.
